🌏US Secret Service says rejected requests to strengthen Trump's security

The US Secret Service has come under intense scrutiny following revelations that it had rejected multiple requests to enhance security measures for former President Donald Trump over a span of two years leading up to a recent assassination attempt. According to a report by The New York Times, citing statements from Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, these requests did not specifically pertain to the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was injured in a shooting incident. Despite the denial of additional resources, Guglielmi emphasized that the Secret Service took alternative steps to mitigate threats, including deploying state and local law enforcement officers and adjusting security plans. The shooting, which took place on July 13, resulted in Trump sustaining a gunshot wound to his right ear, necessitating brief hospitalization. This incident has prompted a broader debate about the adequacy of security protocols for high-profile figures, highlighting potential gaps and the challenges faced by protective agencies in balancing resource constraints with threat assessments.
